Position Summary

Portland Community College is searching for a Disability Resources Director.
This is a great opportunity for an individual who is ready to join a committed team and engage in innovative work. The successful applicant will report to the Dean of Inclusive and Accessible Education and will be responsible for managing the individual interactive student accommodation process. This role supervises employees in a variety of classifications including faculty, academic professional, classified, and casual roles, but does not supervise personnel who work on alternate formats, interpreting and transcribing, or in the testing centers. 

This role ensures the campus-based office locations and the online accommodation management system are working well and engages in regular communication and problem solving with instructional faculty and academic leaders. The Director will serve within a management team that includes leaders responsible for Accessible Technology, Digital Inclusion, Communication Access, and Disability Culture.

We are seeking a collaborative and creative leader who is skilled in strategic planning as well as relationship and team building. We expect a commitment to cultural responsiveness and inclusion as well as a commitment to forward thinking and sustainable capacity building. We are looking for a person who brings a solid foundation of experience with student accommodation, and an openness to learning.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).

  • Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Education, Administration, Management, Communications, or related field (relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis).

  • Three years (3) of progressively responsible experience related to student accommodation in post-secondary education, including two years of supervisory experience.

OR

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field

  • Five (5) years progressively responsible experience related to student accommodation in post-secondary education, including two years of supervisory experience.

OR

  • Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience related to student accommodation in post-secondary education, including two years of supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engagement with, or knowledge of, Disability Studies
  • Knowledge of ADA, 504, IDEIA, and other relevant disability related legislation

Starting Salary Expectations Minimum $85,646.00 to range midpoint of $104,917.00
Placement will generally not exceed the mid-point, based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.

PCC offers a tax deferred annuity program and a deferred compensation program where employees may save additional pre-tax dollars for retirement.

Additionally, PCC provides a tuition waiver for you, your spouse/domestic partner, and dependent children under 24 years of age, as well as partial tuition reimbursement for full-time employees at other accredited institutions.

Paid Leave: (Pro-rated by FTE for Part-Time Employees)

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Work environment includes frequent disruptions and changes in priorities.

  • Work is generally performed in an office environment with frequent interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Working hours may vary and some evening or weekend work is required.

  • Some travel to other locations is expected.

  • No special coordination beyond that used for normal mobility and handling of everyday objects and materials is needed to perform the job satisfactorily.
