Position Summary

Come join Portland Community College’s Innovation & Technology team!
We are seeking an educational technology specialist to join our team to help maintain and grow its online learning ecosystem. In this role, you will help with day-to-day instructional applications administration, monitor system usage, provide technical support and guidance to faculty and staff, support and lead projects to expand the use of technology to ensure PCC remains a leader in accessibility, equity, and innovation in online learning.
Work with a high-functioning team of dedicated professionals in supporting the largest online program in Oregon.

This job can be performed remotely, but candidate must work and reside in the Portland Metro area.

Candidate Profile

  1. Demonstrated knowledge of enterprise learning management system administration.

  2. Demonstrated knowledge of common education technology standards like Learning Tools Interoperability, Instructional Management Systems (IMS), and 3rd party integrations for authentication, media delivery, and content management. 

  3. Demonstrated knowledge of collecting, manipulating, and reporting system data. 

  4. Demonstrated success working in a collaborative environment with teams at remote locations.

  5. Demonstrated experience with change management and communication with a variety of stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).

  • Associate degree in a computer or network field or related discipline. Experience performing the duties described above may substitute for the degree requirement or training on a year-for-year basis. One year applied work experience in network support services. Knowledge of computer network technology such as TCP/IP, Microsoft Windows, UNIX, LINUX and NetWare. The above-mentioned qualifications could be demonstrated by possessing one of the following certifications:
    Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)
  • Ability to operate effectively in a complex environment involving multiple systems and a variety of technologies at multiple locations. Knowledge of system software for error handling and recovery; and of computer system hardware peripheral devices.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize and resolve system related problems. Ability to work independently and make necessary decisions throughout the systems process, within department guidelines. Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently and respond to emergency situations effectively.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate technical and complex information both orally and in writing. Must be able to provide own transportation for district travel.

Starting Salary Expectations The first two steps of the range are: $68,271.00 to $70,320.00 per year. Higher salary placement may be available based on qualifications, experience and internal equity.

Paid Leave: (Pro-rated by FTE for Part-Time Employees)
- Starts at 8 hours of vacation leave per month (additional vacation hours with years of service)
- 8 hours of sick leave per month
- 24 hours of additional personal leave days per year - 12 Paid holidays

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Work environment includes high computer related noise levels (may require use of ear plugs), paper and equipment generated dust and use of cleaning fluids and other materials for cleaning equipment.
Must provide own transportation for travel between campuses and off-site locations.
Work environment includes frequent disruptions and frequent changes in work priorities.
Works with electric, electronic and mechanical equipment. Exposure to video display terminals occurs on a regular basis.
May be required to work various shifts and/or weekends to provide uninterrupted computer services.
Routine standing, walking and lifting of equipment (30-50 pounds). Learned physical skill for keyboarding and operating complex network and computing equipment.
