Position Summary

Working within the Transportation and Parking Services Department, the Transportation Field Coordinator is responsible for the maintenance of all parking department vehicles, collection and deposit of all monies from parking permit dispensers, repair of parking permit dispensers and general office duties. Shares lead responsibilities with the Lead Transportation Specialist over the Transit Service Operators and Van Drivers.

This position offers a great opportunity to work with modern parking technology, including electric vehicle charging stations and permit dispensers. You'll play a key role in ensuring smooth operations, from vehicle maintenance to system repairs. This is a dynamic, hands-on role where you’ll make a direct impact on parking services, with room for growth and advancement.

Candidate Profile

These qualifications, skills and abilities are critical for success in this position.
Throughout the screening process, you will be evaluated based on the demonstration of these qualifications.

Strong mechanical and troubleshooting abilities, particularly with vehicles and parking equipment. Familiarity with parking permit dispensers, payment systems, and electric vehicle charging stations is a plus. Ability to maintain accurate records and ensure all equipment operates efficiently. Skilled in identifying issues and quickly implementing effective solutions. Able to manage multiple tasks, such as vehicle maintenance and office duties, effectively. Clear and effective communication skills, reports both in writing and verbally. Work independently and manage time effectively.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).

High school diploma or equivalent.
Three years of experience working in a customer service related position, including one year of lead experience. Mechanical skills required sufficient for repairing parking permit dispensers and minor repair of vehicles.

- Must maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s license for operation of motor vehicles within the State of Oregon and possess an acceptable driving record including five years of accident free driving, with no recent moving violations.

- Must obtain passenger and air brake endorsements within 7 days of hire. Must be able to obtain basic first aid/CPR certification within three months of employment. Must be able to pass a personal and criminal history background check. Must pass a physical examination and submit to periodic drug testing.

Position Grade 20
Starting Salary Expectations The first two steps of the range are: $58,180 to $59,923 per year. Higher salary placement may be available based on qualifications, experience and internal equity.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Job duties are performed both in an office environment and outside when collecting monies from parking permit dispensers and repairing dispensers as required. The Operations Assistant may be required to carry a pager and must be able to shift priorities quickly when asked to provide backup support to bus shuttle drivers. Learned physical skill required to perform keyboarding and manual dexterity required to perform parking permit dispenser and basic vehicle repair. Heavy lifting may sometimes be required (e.g., moving furniture).
