Position Summary

Portland Community College is seeking a collaborative and transformational leader to guide a team of dedicated department chairs, full-time and part-time faculty, and staff.

Under the direction of the Dean of the Academic & Career Pathway for Public Services, Education, and the Social Sciences, the Program Dean of Education and Human Services will be responsible for the direct oversight of college-wide educational disciplines, programs, and services within one or more of the College's integrated academic, career, and workforce programs. This position will oversee and lead multiple instructional disciplines, programs, and services to provide comprehensive learning opportunities and promote equitable student outcomes.

Candidate Profile

These qualifications, skills and abilities are critical for success in this position.

  • Leading and collaboratively supporting faculty and staff in the data-driven design, implementation, and evaluation of student-centered initiatives
  • Focus on equitable student success through culturally responsive support for individuals and communities with historically marginalized identities (including but not limited to: first-generation students, BIPOC students, queer and transgender students, incarcerated students, low-income students, and students with disabilities)
  • Meaningfully engaging diverse internal and external stakeholders in a large, dynamic system
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting, evaluating programs, and growing enrollment in one or more fields of career and technical education.

  • Understanding of the uniqueness of career and technical education goals, approaches, techniques, needs, and resources
  • Extensive experience with CTE programs, including specialized accreditation, grants renewals, and new inquiries
  • Promoting a culture that actively disrupts prejudice, discrimination, and racism, with a focus on incorporating language around intersectionality and fostering age-inclusivity 
  • Experience in faculty assessments, including providing support and advocating for leadership and collaboration among the team, with a specific emphasis on supporting the professional development of team members, including Faculty Development Chairs  (FDCs)

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).

  • Master’s Degree and 5 years progressively responsible experience related to the area of assignment, providing program/project management or program coordination.
  • Three (3) years of management experience, including employee supervision, in higher education or in an industry related to the area of assignment.

Starting Salary Expectations Minimum $113,994 to range midpoint of $139,642. Placement will generally not exceed the mid-point, based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.

PCC offers a tax deferred annuity program and a deferred compensation program where employees may save additional pre-tax dollars for retirement.

Additionally, PCC provides a tuition waiver for you, your spouse/domestic partner, and dependent children under 24 years of age, as well as partial tuition reimbursement for full-time employees at other accredited institutions.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Work environment includes frequent disruptions and changes in priorities. Work is generally performed in an office environment with frequent interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule. Working hours may vary and occasional evening or weekend work is required. Frequent travel to other locations is required. No special coordination beyond that used for normal mobility and handling of everyday objects and materials is needed to perform the job satisfactorily.

The ASR contains current security and safety-related policy disclosure statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information and resources, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains crime statistics for Clery Act crimes which occurred on PCC properties for the last three calendar years. Paper copies of the ASR are available upon request at all Department of Public Safety offices.

Special Conditions for this position:
This position has been identified as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act). Campus Security Authorities must immediately report Clery Act crimes that occurred on Portland Community College’s Clery geography on the Crime Incident Report (CIRTrac™) located on the Department of Public Safety’s Clery Act compliance webpage. Following entry of a report on CIRTrac™ PCC’s Clery Specialist will (1) analyze the report for issuance of a timely warning or emergency notification; and (2) will determine if the report should be included in the annual statistical disclosures. The Clery Specialist shall annually assign CSAs online Clery Act training to ensure they are provided proper training to fulfill their reporting responsibilities required by the Clery Act and PCC’s Clery Act policy.
