Portland Community College is seeking applications for a Food and Catering Coordinator ("Dining Center Coordinator" in the PCC Classification system).

The position is responsible for the efficient and profitable operation of a retail area and catering. Serve as a working lead. Plan, order, receive, schedule, and coordinate the day-to-day performance of specific campus. Ensure that standards are implemented and maintained in a consistent manner.

Work hours are variable, but typically Monday-Friday 7-3:30, sometimes later (9-5:30 on occasion).

Some travel to Cascade Campus will also be expected.

Candidate Profile

These qualifications, skills and abilities are critical for success in this position.

  • Several years of supervisory experience in food management
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and computer systems.
  • Knowledgeable in all aspects of proper sanitation, food storage, and kitchen safety.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to work with a diverse staff and customer base.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).

High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum three years of experience preparing food in a high volume commercial food service environment which includes food preparation.

Food handler’s card required.

Knowledge of County/State/Federal health and safety codes and regulations pertaining to commercial food service operations.Must have the ability to independently coordinate food services activities including the planning of menus and supervising others.Good organizational, customer service and record keeping skills required. Must have the ability to analyze and monitor food costs.

Position Grade 16
Starting Salary Expectations The first two steps of the range are: $47,034 to $48,440 per year. Higher salary placement may be available based on qualifications, experience and internal equity.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Work Environment
Food Services typically operates during extended hours to adequately serve the campus population. Work pressure and disturbances of work flow and/or irregularities in work schedule are expected and occur on a regular basis. Work environment includes exposure to noise extremes in temperature and occasional related hazards.

Physical Requirements
Extended standing, heavy lifting and operation of specialized equipment.
