Position Summary

Portland Community College (PCC), widely recognized for its vibrant disability community and steadfast dedication to accessibility in all programs and services, is seeking a skilled professional to join the Office of Accessible Education & Disability Resources (AEDR) as the Accessible Technology Review Coordinator. This pivotal role ensures that all members of the PCC community have access to information and communication technology (ICT) that meets the highest accessibility standards.

 

As an Academic Professional, the Accessible Technology Review Coordinator leads comprehensive technology audits, oversees accessibility testing processes of technology, and evaluates vendor documentation, such as Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs) and Accessibility Conformance Reports (ACRs). In collaboration with the Accessible Technology Manager and other stakeholders, the Coordinator helps develop Equally Effective Alternative Access Plans (EEAAPs) and guides the work of a team of technology testers using assistive technologies to assess and test digital accessibility conformance levels of ICT.

 

Reporting to the Accessible Technology Manager, this position serves as a dedicated liaison, providing expert digital accessibility consultation and support to PCC community members across the college. Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Providing leadership, advocacy, and training to advance the PCC stakeholders in knowledge of the web content accessibility guidelines (WCAG).

  • Conducting technology audits and testing to evaluate the WCAG compliance of technology during the procurement and contract news process. 

  • Researching and recommending systems, policies, and procedures that promote and sustain digital accessibility.

  • Participating in committees to further PCC’s commitment to accessibility and inclusivity.

  • Supervising and reviewing the work of casual, student, and classified staff.

Candidate Profile

These qualifications, skills and abilities are critical for success in this position.
Throughout the screening process, you will be evaluated based on the demonstration of these qualifications.

  1. Applicable Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, codes, and statues including but not limited to as Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act;

  2. Knowledge of Web Accessibility Initiative – Accessible Rich Internet Applications (WAI-ARIA) and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)

  3. Knowledge of HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, HTML, Python

  4. Knowledge of software applications and tools such as AODocs, Google Workspace, Color Contrast Analyzer, Wave, ANDI, AXE Accessibility tool, and Lighthouse

  5. Knowledge of and demonstrated use of screen reader software such as JAWS, NVDA, & Voiceover

  6. Works well with others and collaborates effectively with faculty, students, the public, and college staff members

  7. Knowledge of the disability community and the student accommodation process in higher education

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).

  • Bachelor’s Degree in CIS, Education, or related. The degree requirement may be substituted with experience on a year for year basis.

  • A minimum of three years of experience conducting or coordinating technology audits and testing to ensure compliance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Enjoys and thrives working in a collaborative team environment with diverse groups

  2. Knowledge of document and media formats and standards for accessibility guidelines

  3. Knowledge of assistive technology including but not limited to screen readers, refreshable braille displays, etext readers, epub readers, amplification systems and magnifiers

  4. Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) certification

Position Grade 4
Starting Salary Expectations $59,785.00 (Step 1) to $64,047.00 (Step 3); based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
Position Grade Salary Range $59,785.00 to $103,673.00 Annual Salary

Paid Leave: (Pro-rated by FTE for Part-Time Employees)

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Work is performed in an office environment with some travel to other campuses. Exposure to video and computer monitors occurs with high frequency. Prolonged sitting may be required. Learned physical skill required to perform keyboarding function.

Special Conditions for this position:
This position has been identified as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act). Campus Security Authorities must immediately report Clery Act crimes that occurred on Portland Community College’s Clery geography on the Crime Incident Report (CIRTrac™) located on the Department of Public Safety’s Clery Act compliance webpage. Following entry of a report on CIRTrac™ PCC’s Clery Specialist will (1) analyze the report for issuance of a timely warning or emergency notification; and (2) will determine if the report should be included in the annual statistical disclosures. The Clery Specialist shall annually assign CSAs online Clery Act training to ensure they are provided proper training to fulfill their reporting responsibilities required by the Clery Act and PCC’s Clery Act policy.
