Position Summary

The Online Learning Student Success team is looking for a professional passionate about supporting students in attaining their goals. In this role, you will provide comprehensive and holistic support to online learners by addressing challenges impacting their academic success. The ideal candidate is student-centered and will create a collaborative relationship with each student.

The Online Learning Success Coach will primarily work remotely. Given student feedback, there may be times when they may need to travel to a campus based on student needs. If they do not want to be remote, they can let us know which campus they are near so we can find a space near them.

Candidate Profile

These qualifications, skills and abilities are critical for success in this position.
Throughout the screening process, you will be evaluated based on the demonstration of these qualifications.

  1. Demonstrated experience keeping records, maintaining private information, and reviewing data for students or clients.

  2. Knowledge of culturally responsive practices and diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging principles. Experience working with students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds through culturally informed practices.

  3. Experience working collaboratively in a remote work environment with internal and external partners (e.g., academic advisors, counselors, community partners, etc.) to coordinate student support and engagement.

  4. Demonstrated experience helping students develop personalized action plans, articulate goals,  and address barriers to academic achievement in higher education and online learning environments.

  5. Experience leveraging current technologies and multiple communication modalities (email, phone, video conferencing, etc.) to facilitate appointments, deliver presentations, and create resources.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Science, or related field. Experience performing the duties of this job may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-by-year basis.
  • One year of experience working with online students or clients in an educational or social service environment. Experience should include working with students or clients to develop goals and manage caseloads.
 
Position Grade 3
Starting Salary Expectations $62,753.00 to $64,950.00; based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
Position Grade Salary Range
$62,753.00 to $108,812.00 Annual Salary

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Work is generally performed in an office/ home office environment with frequent interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule. Incumbents may travel to businesses or college events. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required based on student and business needs.
No special coordination beyond that used for normal mobility and handling of everyday objects and materials is needed to perform the job satisfactorily.

The ASR contains current security and safety-related policy disclosure statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information and resources, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains crime statistics for Clery Act crimes which occurred on PCC properties for the last three calendar years. Paper copies of the ASR are available upon request at all Department of Public Safety offices.

Special Conditions for this position:
This position has been identified as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act). Campus Security Authorities must immediately report Clery Act crimes that occurred on Portland Community College’s Clery geography on the Crime Incident Report (CIRTrac™) located on the Department of Public Safety’s Clery Act compliance webpage. Following entry of a report on CIRTrac™ PCC’s Clery Specialist will (1) analyze the report for issuance of a timely warning or emergency notification; and (2) will determine if the report should be included in the annual statistical disclosures. The Clery Specialist shall annually assign CSAs online Clery Act training to ensure they are provided proper training to fulfill their reporting responsibilities required by the Clery Act and PCC’s Clery Act policy.
