Position Summary

The Online Learning Training & Development Team is seeking a Digital Learning Facilitator to help support academic programs across the college.


The Training and Development Team is responsible for supporting and promoting instructional best practices. It develops and facilitates the initial Online Instructor Training (BEARS), Multimodality Training, Teaching Pairs, and curates Online Learning Consortium (OLC) and Quality Matters (QM) Workshops, among others. The team also facilitates the online faculty mentor program, supports faculty-led remote and hybrid workgroups, coordinates with the Instructional Design team and Instructional Technology Support, and collaborates with faculty to create and update resources such as What Works Well in Online Teaching. It has been recently tasked with organizing, developing, and facilitating continuous professional development through the required online refresher and remote faculty training. This position will include developing and facilitating online and multimodality instructional training, presentations, and workshops for faculty, as well as building and updating instructional resources in collaboration with the existing team and with feedback from academic programs. This position also supports new and experienced faculty through mentoring and coaching in online, remote, and hybrid modalities.

Candidate Profile

These qualifications, skills and abilities are critical for success in this position.
Throughout the screening process, you will be evaluated based on the demonstration of these qualifications.

  1. Demonstrate knowledge of and experience utilizing effective teaching practices in online and remote modalities.
  2. Demonstrate experience developing and/or facilitating faculty training courses, workshops, and presentations, and activities.
  3.  Demonstrate recent participation in training and instructional development activities, particularly current T&D trainings and workshops such as Teaching Pairs, BEES, BEARS, CUBS, Multimodality Training, as well as Kevin Kelly, OLC, and QM Workshops.
  4.  Demonstrate experience mentoring online and/or remote faculty in a wide range of disciplines.
  5.  Demonstrate an understanding of privilege and structural inequities and how they impact students.
  6.  Demonstrate an ability to work both independently and as a team member, managing multiple time-sensitive tasks in order to meet project deadlines and faculty needs.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).

  • Master’s Degree in Education, Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, Multimedia Design, Computer Science, or a related field required. Two (2) years of full time professional experience working in instructional design, creating and delivering faculty and staff development programs, or teaching digital instructional design best practices. Experience teaching online, hybrid, and remote courses in secondary and/or higher education may substitute for some or all of the experience requirements.
  •  OR Master’s Degree in any field OR Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, Multimedia Design, Computer Science, or a related field AND four (4) years of full time professional experience working in instructional design, creating and delivering faculty and staff development programs, or teaching digital instructional design best practices. Experience teaching online, hybrid, and remote courses in secondary and/or higher education may substitute for some or all of the experience requirements.
  •  OR Bachelor’s Degree in any field AND six (6) years of full time professional experience working in instructional design, creating and delivering faculty and staff development programs, or teaching digital instructional design best practices.   •  OR eight (8) years of full time professional experience working in instructional design, creating and delivering faculty and staff development programs, or teaching digital instructional design best practices. Position Grade 5
Starting Salary Expectations $71,174.00 (Step 1) to $76,243.00 (Step 3); based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
Position Grade Salary Range $71174 to $123415 Annual Salary

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Work environment includes frequent disruptions and changes in priorities. Work is generally performed in an
office environment with frequent interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule. Working hours may vary
and some evening or weekend work is required.
Frequent travel to other locations and possession of a current Driver License is required.
No special coordination beyond that used for normal mobility and handling of everyday objects and materials is needed to perform the job satisfactorily.

This position has been identified as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act). Campus Security Authorities must immediately report Clery Act crimes that occurred on Portland Community College’s Clery geography on the Crime Incident Report (CIRTrac™) located on the Department of Public Safety’s Clery Act compliance webpage. Following entry of a report on CIRTrac™ PCC’s Clery Specialist will (1) analyze the report for issuance of a timely warning or emergency notification; and (2) will determine if the report should be included in the annual statistical disclosures. The Clery Specialist shall annually assign CSAs online Clery Act training to ensure they are provided proper training to fulfill their reporting responsibilities required by the Clery Act and PCC’s Clery Act policy.
