Pool - Instructional Design Specialist (Hourly/Casual)

Position Summary

This Hourly Hiring Pool represents current or potential hourly non-benefitted job openings in this employment category. There is no guarantee of employment from this hiring pool. Positions are not benefitted. Jobs are located in any of several campuses and centers throughout the PCC district. Hours and schedules vary. 

T
he Instructional Design team in Online Learning is looking for highly motivated and innovative individuals who are detail-oriented, apply instructional design best practices, have excellent communication and emotional intelligence skills, and excel at the technical aspects of using D2L Brightspace and developing HTML pages. 

This person will be responsible for providing course design and template updates (https://docs.google.com/document/d/10Vd9dv1fn4l_kZvwQvB89Qapbu1gk50pXx8qs6tT18E/edit#heading=h.jdemrmw3o5of) to existing online courses, conducting Course Quality Reviews, and assisting faculty with prepping and personalizing a SAC shareable course shell to teach for the first time. 

Compensation category: 
Professional- Casual Employment. 

Schedule: 18-20 per week - schedule TBA
Wage: $27-30 per hour

 

Basic Qualifications 
  • Ability to apply fundamental design principles, instructional design, adult learning theory, and culturally responsive teaching to online courses.
  • Proficient in using all aspects of D2L Brightspace tools and Google Suite
  • Comfortable creating and editing HTML pages in D2L Brightspace that use a stylesheet from both the WYSIWYG and Source Code editors.
  • Well-versed in creating documents to meet WCAG 2.1AA standards to meet the PCC Accessibility Technology Policy (https://www.pcc.edu/policy/accessible-technology/).
  • Ability to update Brightspace courses using the fundamental principles outlined in Organizing for Student Success (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1pPUzK_U2MCtYNpcIYOrop4M-h-sq1TWBN8dNyPZmnT8/edit?usp=sharing).
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions Work Environment
Work is performed in an office environment or remotely. Work also involves sitting at a computer for extended periods of time.

The ASR contains current security and safety-related policy disclosure statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information and resources, and drug and alcohol prevention programming.
