Position Summary

This is a temporary position through June 30, 2025.

The Portland Community College Foundation has an exciting opportunity for the Foundation Accountant.  The Foundation Accountant is a dynamic role that provides financial support to help the PCC Foundation continue on a growth trajectory that expands support for students and College departments.  Currently the role is hybrid and works with a talented, collaborative, passionate Foundation team to achieve organizational goals through an equity lens.
Under the direction of the Foundation Accounting Manager, the Foundation Accountant performs complex accounting activities requiring the use of generally accepted accounting principles, including the compilation of financial statements and development of internal control processes.  Additionally, the role will perform financial analysis and work on various process improvement projects to improve organizational efficiency and effectiveness.  The position will work closely with various stakeholders including Foundation and College staff & leadership, departments & faculty and students to provide various levels of accounting and finance support for decision making.

  • Candidates demonstrate a strong technical acumen in finance, accounting (GAAP), budgeting and software maintenance. This should include compilation of financial statements, evaluation of internal controls and coordination of an external financial audit.

  • Candidates display the ability to work flexibly across various internal functional teams on a variety of accounting and non-accounting projects and deliverables.  
  • Candidates exhibit the ability to translate financial information including policies and procedures to a diverse audience in a consumable manner.
  • Ability to collaborate with external and internal partners, including staff, from diverse communities with respect and attention to belonging, justice, equity, diversity and inclusion

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Experience performing the duties described above may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Three years of experience working accounting, or the area of accounting that is related to the assignment is required, including working with preparation of comprehensive annual financial reports.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating and overseeing complex financial projects and audits; working with PC and mainframe computer systems, hardware, and supporting software applications; and experience working with computerized general ledgers and accounting systems.

 
Position Grade 5
Starting Salary Expectations $71,174.00 to $76,243.00 (Step 3); based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
Position Grade Salary Range $71174 to $123415

Paid Leave: (Pro-rated by FTE for Part-Time Employees)
- Starts at 13.33 hours of vacation leave per month (additional vacation hours with years of services)

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Work is typically performed in an office environment. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required depending on project requirements.


Physical Requirements
Minimal physical exertion is required. May sit for extended periods of time at a desk or working at a computer. Learned physical skill is required to perform keyboarding functions.
