Position Summary

The Certified Nursing Assistant Program Coordinator administers specialized certified nursing assistant training for the college, or for clients wanting customized programs outside of the CNA program. Training may focus within a specialized area, such as health care or hi-fidelity manikins, front line workers, or management and professional development. Incumbents facilitate the instructor hiring and evaluation process of and assist in developing or oversee the development of curriculum for noncredit, continuing education, community education. The Certified Nursing Assistant Program Coordinator conducts strategic planning, needs assessment, and program development to ensure student needs are being met.

***Principal Accountabilities:

  • Contacts prospective clients, initiates cold calls, follows up on leads with client visits, phone calls, and/or letters. Develops proposals based on identified client needs and close sales.
  • Develops course schedule for credit, continuing education, and open campus management and professional development classes. Coordinates logistics of each class. Processes course evaluations, continuing education credits, and course grades.
  • Recruits, screens, and recommends the hiring of faculty and workshop facilitators. Screens resumes, calls references, negotiates fees within established guidelines. Evaluates instructor effectiveness and offers recommendations for improvement.
  • Develops or participates in curriculum development. Works with instructors, clients, or subject experts in development process. Writes course objectives and course content guides. Identifies, secures and maintains needed equipment.
  • Monitors programs and courses to ensure they meet continuing education mandates of licensing /certification agencies.
    Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Demonstrated ability to train and/or mentor nursing students through rotations and/or recent graduates through rotations.
  • Experience in healthcare education in a variety of modalities or educational delivery methods, with experience teaching at a community college and/or in an undergraduate nursing program preferred
  • Experience working with internal and external stakeholders to creatively and collaboratively seek continuous improvement in reaching a variety of goals set forth by the organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, technology, as well as staff and/or student mentoring.
  • Proven training, mentoring or instructional experience, utilizing effective communication strategies, with diverse audiences, demonstrating an ability to create and nurture a sense of well-being and belonging.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize culturally responsive and equity-focused practices with a diverse population and work environment.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).

  • Bachelors Degree from a college or university accredited nursing program.
  • Two years of program development and coordination, including budget monitoring experience.
  • Hold an unencumbered, current Oregon RN license at time of hire & be able to acquire a Washington RN license within 6 months of hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have a minimum of two (2) years of direct patient care nursing experience.
  • Have a minimum of one (1) year RN experience in the provision of long-term care facilities in the US.
  • Current certification in CPR/Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers and First Aid, or the ability to obtain it prior to employment.

Position Grade 5
Starting Salary Expectations $63,675 to $68,208 (Step 3); based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
Position Grade Salary Range $63675 to $110409 Annual Salary

Paid Leave: (Pro-rated by FTE for Part-Time Employees)

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Work is performed in an office setting. Incumbents drive to client offices or field sites to conduct sales calls, finalize contracts, or coordinate training programs requiring the use of a personal vehicle. Work hours require flexibility in order to meet client training requirements. Early morning, evening, and occasional weekend hours are required.
