PCC’s Community Education Department (CED) seeks a part-time Instructional Support Technician III to oversee our Southeast ceramics studio. The CED non-credit ceramics program is beloved, long-standing and well maintained. We serve 127 students each term. This position will work with a dedicated team of staff and passionate instructors to ensure the successful day-to-day operations of the studio. There may be the possibility of also teaching non-credit classes in the future. Typical responsibilities include: Supervising non-instructional open studio hoursMaintaining glaze and clay inventory, tools and suppliesMonitoring supply budget and expensesLight repair and coordinating with vendors as neededCommunicating in person and via phone and email with Community Education staff and other college departmentsAssisting with studio protocol development and training/adherence to protocolsDeveloping a firing schedule and communicating it to students and instructors Processing of ceramic work, including firing gas, electric and raku kilnsMixing glazes and maintaining sufficient quantities and optionsResponsible for studio cleanliness oversight; maintaining day-to-day operationsDeveloping reference materials and teaching suppliesDevelopment and communication of studio safety protocols to instructors and students

Minimum Qualifications
To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).
High school diploma or equivalent and two years of post-secondary education in a specific technical discipline appropriate to the instructional support. Two years of experience supporting laboratory activities in the technical area are required; relevant experience may substitute for the post-secondary education requirement on a year-for-year basis. Must have proven communications skills adequate to assist students in understanding the work they are to perform and ability to lead others.

Work pressure, disturbances of work flow and/or irregularities in work schedule are expected and occur on an intermittent basis.
