Position Summary	PCC’s Community Education Department (CED) seeks a part-time Instructional Support Technician III to oversee our Southeast ceramics studio. The CED non-credit ceramics program is beloved, long-standing and well maintained. We serve 127 students each term. This position will work with a dedicated team of staff and passionate instructors to ensure the successful day-to-day operations of the studio. There may be the possibility of also teaching non-credit classes in the future. Typical responsibilities include: Supervising non-instructional open studio hours Maintaining glaze and clay inventory, tools and supplies Monitoring supply budget and expenses Light repair and coordinating with vendors as needed Communicating in person and via phone and email with Community Education staff and other college departments Assisting with studio protocol development and training/adherence to protocols Developing a firing schedule and communicating it to students and instructors Processing of ceramic work, including firing gas, electric and raku kilns Mixing glazes and maintaining sufficient quantities and options Responsible for studio cleanliness oversight; maintaining day-to-day operations Developing reference materials and teaching supplies Development and communication of studio safety protocols to instructors and students See the classification description for additional information: https://www.pcc.edu/hr/employment/classified-jobs/ist-3/
Candidate Profile	These qualifications, skills and abilities are critical for success in this position. Throughout the screening process, you will be evaluated based on the demonstration of these qualifications. Must show demonstrated ability and knowledge in all aspects of ceramics including technical skills, equipment, tools and maintenance of equipment. Gas and electric kiln experience Experience mixing glazes Organization and an eye for detail Strong oral and written communication skills Ability to resolve conflict calmly and diplomatically Ability to bend over at waist to unload ceramic pieces from kiln; requires standing for long periods of time and repetitive movements Minimum Qualifications To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked). High school diploma or equivalent and two years of post-secondary education in a specific technical discipline appropriate to the instructional support. Two years of experience supporting laboratory activities in the technical area are required; relevant experience may substitute for the post-secondary education requirement on a year-for-year basis. Must have proven communications skills adequate to assist students in understanding the work they are to perform and ability to lead others. Starting Salary Expectations	The first two steps of the range are: $23.28 /hr to $23.98/hr. Higher salary placement may be available based on qualifications, experience and internal equity.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements	Work pressure, disturbances of work flow and/or irregularities in work schedule are expected and occur on an intermittent basis. Changes in the performance environment require occasional upgrading of skills. Working conditions may be somewhat disagreeable requiring occasional exposure to safety hazards, noise and temperature extremes. Some learned physical skills are required. Physical effort such as frequent standing, walking and lifting; guiding and/or carrying of lightweight materials or equipment; occasional periods of sustained effort.
