Position Summary

The Facilities Management Services (FMS) team is seeking a collaborative, detail oriented, and efficient Accounting Technician II to support the department. As stewards of PCC’s built and natural environment, FMS' services range from facility improvement projects to maintenance, custodial, property management, distribution, warehouse, surplus, grounds and landscaping, recycling, environmental management, occupational health and safety, and utility/energy efficiency.  FMS services all four campuses and ten centers, covering a 1,500 square mile district with 65 facilities, comprising 2.6 million gross square feet and 416 acres of grounds.

The Accounting Technician II position supports the more than 140 staff dedicated to providing an excellent learning environment. The primary responsibility is to review and process account payable and receivable transactions while verifying accuracy and compliance with College purchasing and accounting requirements. The annual volume of financial transactions is approximately 3,500 invoices and 2,500 PCard transactions with a total dollar value of $9.5M.

The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day. Daily hours of work are flexible around the core hours of 9:00am to 3:00pm. Currently, this position is eligible for hybrid work with on-site expectations on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. Remote work is permitted on Thursdays and Fridays upon completion of training and approval of a telework agreement. In order to work remotely, the individual must have an appropriate workspace, adequate internet access, and may not perform other duties (such as child care) during work hours. The College will provide a laptop that can be used both on-site and remotely. The worksite is at the PCC Sylvania Campus - 12000 SW 49th Ave. Portland, OR 97219.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a positive attitude while working with frequent interruptions and a changing business landscape environment.
  • Strong team player with a positive demeanor, flexible and adaptable attitude, and eagerness to learn new skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in utilizing computer applications including Google Applications, Microsoft Office Suite, Banner and/or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).

High school diploma or equivalent; one year of college-level bookkeeping or general accounting. Experience performing the duties described above for one year may substitute for the college-level coursework. Two years experience performing accounting or bookkeeping functions, which must include coding transactions, balancing and resolving discrepancies.

Proficient in various computer applications, including use of spreadsheet and word processing software, and database. Accurate keyboarding and ten-key skills. Ability to communicate complex/technical data effectively – orally and in writing. Provides effective customer service to department customers.

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Computer skills and familiarity with accounting software is required, prior experience with Banner (ERP system) is preferred.
  • Prior work experience in the facilities management and/or property management field is preferred.
  • Previous experience with Facilities Integrated Workplace Management System (IWMS) or Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) is also preferred.

Position Grade 17
Starting Salary Expectations The first two steps of the range are: $43,310 to $44,610 per year. Higher salary placement may be available based on qualifications, experience and internal equity.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Work Environment
Work is performed in a normal office environment. Exposure to video display terminals occurs with varied frequency.

Physical Requirements
Learned physical skill for performing keyboarding and ten-key functions.
