Position Summary

Portland Community College is seeking a Campus Custodial Services Manager for the Sylvania Campus, located in Portland, Oregon. As the largest post-secondary institution in Oregon, PCC serves nearly 73,000 students. Covering a 1,500 square mile district with 2.6 million gross square feet comprising of 65 facilities and 416 acres of grounds. The Facilities Management Services Department (FMS) oversees four campuses – Sylvania, Rock Creek, Cascade, and Southeast. FMS also currently supports eight centers and locations: CLIMB, Downtown, Hillsboro, Newberg, Portland Metropolitan (PMWTC), Swan Island Trades, Willow Creek and Central Distribution Services. The FMS team includes more than 200 talented and engaged individuals who are dedicated to providing the most effective, safe, and customer-oriented service to the College community maintaining an educational environment in support of recruitment, retention, and PCC’s strategic plan (https://www.pcc.edu/about/administration/strategic-plan/). Under the direction of the District Custodial Services Manager, this position supervises the day-to-day custodial services operations at an assigned campus or center, including the work of custodial staff to ensure a clean and safe environment for students and staff and compliance with applicable college policies, standards and regulatory agency codes. Coordinates immediate Facilities Management Services (custodial, maintenance and grounds) and campus response to issues or events affecting campus/center operations and serves as the principal Facilities Management liaison on-site for external contractors and vendors. The Campus Custodial Services Manager must bring a strong record of management successes, and a commitment to championing the need for dedicated team training that leads to create healthy work-oriented relationships. It will be critical for the Campus Custodial Services Manager to build and grow impactful new training programs, setting and following through on jointly-developed goals.

Candidate Profile

These qualifications, skills and abilities are critical for success in this position.

  • Demonstrated skills in an institutional/educational environment utilizing a customer-oriented and service-centered attitude.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • Experience in custodial maintenance;
  • Experience in recycling programs;
  • University or college supervisory experience;
  • Membership and/or training from APPA, or similar facilities professional association. 

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).

Associate’s degree in business, management, public administration or related field (relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis). 

Two years experience performing custodial and/or maintenance tasks, including one year in a lead capacity is required.

Position Grade I
Starting Salary Expectations Minimum $63,561 to range midpoint of $77,860. Placement will generally not exceed the mid-point, based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.

The ASR also contains crime statistics for Clery Act crimes which occurred on PCC properties for the last three calendar years. Paper copies of the ASR are available upon request at all Department of Public Safety offices.

Special Conditions for this position:

This position has been identified as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act). Campus Security Authorities must immediately report Clery Act crimes that occurred on Portland Community College’s Clery geography on the Crime Incident Report (CIRTrac™) located on the Department of Public Safety’s Clery Act compliance webpage. Following entry of a report on CIRTrac™ PCC’s Clery Specialist will (1) analyze the report for issuance of a timely warning or emergency notification; and (2) will determine if the report should be included in the annual statistical disclosures. The Clery Specialist shall annually assign CSAs online Clery Act training to ensure they are provided proper training to fulfill their reporting responsibilities required by the Clery Act and PCC’s Clery Act policy.
