Position Summary

Immediate Opening to teach Anatomy and Physiology classes at the Southeast Campus

Portland Community College is looking to immediately hire part-time Anatomy & Physiology instructor(s) to teach at the Southeast Campus for Winter term 2019 (January 7th - March 23, 2019), and potentially beyond.

BI 122 Introduction to Human Anatomy and Physiology II

Surveys the endocrine, lymphatic, cardiovascular, digestive, respiratory, reproductive and urinary systems with some coverage of human development, human genetics, and immunology. Includes lectures, discussions and laboratories.   

Saturdays 9:00am - 3:20pm


BI 232 Human Anatomy and Physiology II

Continues the study of the nervous system, including brain, cranial nerves, and autonomic nervous system. Introduces the endocrine, cardiovascular and immune systems. Includes lecture discussions complemented by laboratories involving microscopy, animal dissection, physiological exercises and computer based exercises. This is the second course in a three-course sequence.  

Saturdays 8:30am - 2:50pm

Candidate Profile

Instructor Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in the subject area


  • Master’s degree in related area PLUS 30 quarter hours of graduate credit in subject area.  

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 1 year (3 quarters or 2 semesters) of teaching experience in either Human Anatomy and Physiology preferred

Part-Time Faculty Compensation

2018-19 Hourly Rates:

  • Lecture $59.66/hour
  • Lab $44.15/hour
  • Lecture/Lab $48.03/hour

PCC Benefits

Part-time faculty health insurance eligibility is based on workload during the previous academic year.  Once eligible, available insurance plans include Health, Dental, and Vision options, as well as Long-term Care.

PCC currently fully funds the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS/OPSRP) pension and contributes an additional 6% into the employee's Individual Account Program under PERS/OPSRP.  Part-time faculty may be eligible for PERS/OPSRP if they meet the requirement of six months of employment and are working 600 hours or more per year.  PCC offers a tax deferred annuity program and a deferred compensation program where employees may save additional pre-tax dollars for retirement.

Additionally, PCC provides a tuition waiver for you, your spouse/domestic partner, and children under 24 years of age, as well as tuition reimbursement for full-time employees at other accredited institutions.

Paid Leave:

- 2 hours sick leave per pay period, up to 32 hours per year; a maximum of 8 hours of accrued sick leave per academic year may be used for personal reasons.
