Position Summary

The technical writer is a key member of PCC’s Information Technology Customer Support Team.  This is a creative, supportive team that interacts with others at all levels of the organization, and enjoys constant variety and challenge. We're looking for an accomplished communicator who is enthusiastic, confident and prepared to educate and advocate for best practices in design and organization of technical content.  The Technical Writer writes and maintains documentation, reports, templates, style guides, and presentations, and works with technical subject matter experts to develop documentation and training materials including video and graphics.

Candidate Profile

Please state in detail in your cover letter how you meet the minimum qualification and job success qualifications described below:

  1. One year of experience in an educational institution doing business process mapping, flow charting, and technical documentation
  2. Demonstrated ability to create written materials that are free of grammar and formatting errors
  3. Experience using WordPress, Confluence, and/or G-Suite for Education
  4. Three years of experience doing technical writing for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preference will be given to applicants with advanced degrees in business communication or technical writing or Certified Professional Technical Communicator certification through the Society for Technical Communication.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).

  • Associate’s degree in computer information systems, management information systems, business administration, communication studies, or related field.
  • Three years of technical writing experience which includes document review, and creating document templates and style guides. (Experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year for year basis.)

Position Grade 23
Starting Salary Expectations The first two steps of the range are: $4,170 to $4,295 per month. Higher salary placement may be available based on qualifications, experience and internal equity.
Position Grade Salary Range $50049 to $80313 Annual Salary

Paid Leave: (Pro-rated by FTE for Part-Time Employees)
- Starts at 6.67 hours of vacation leave per month (additional vacation hours with years of service)
- 8 hours of sick leave per month 
- 24 hours of additional personal leave days per year 
- 11 Paid holidays

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Work environment is in an office or computer lab setting and includes typical computer-related noise levels and paper or equipment generated dust. Learned physical skill is required to perform keyboarding and use peripheral equipment.
