The Computing Technology Specialist position works with staff, faculty and students to ensure that the PCs, Macs, software applications and other technology devices are working well. The Computing Technology Specialist is on the campus IT team and collaborates with all IT staff. The goals for the position include troubleshooting and resolving technology issues, assisting users with technology challenges and questions, using technology management systems to automate technology updates and provide remote access support, developing documentation and procedures for users and technology staff, and working on project teams to implement new and updated systems. Effective communication skills, development of interpersonal working relationships and professionalism, courtesy and respect are critical components of the position. The position will work on a “hybrid” schedule with the majority of work time on-campus plus some remote work time.

These qualifications, skills and abilities are critical for success in this position. Throughout the screening process, you will be evaluated based on the demonstration of these qualifications.
Experience supporting PCs, Macs and other devices and the associated software applications.Ability to work with students, staff, faculty, vendors and others to assist with using technology devices and software, resolve technology issues and challenges and assist with technology projects.Demonstrated knowledge of management tools (Kace, Jamf, FireEye, Deep Freeze, Bomgar, Ghost, Active Directory, etc.) for supporting and automating processes for PCs and Macs.Experience creating and updating technical documentation for IT teams as well as procedure guides and reference materials for users.Understanding of various IT teams and how they work together. Has local area network familiarity, information security knowledge and advanced troubleshooting skills.Experience maintaining technology skills and keeping current on new techniques, procedures and tools.Has experience with project management and working on project teams comprised of users and IT staff to implement new and updated systems.
Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent. Associate’s degree or two years of college-level coursework or training in a computer-related discipline. Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year for year basis. Two years of work experience with computing systems is also required.Must possess knowledge of current personal computer hardware, operating systems, client/server and network technologies, including printers and peripheral devices such as scanners, PDAs and special needs equipment.
